In case you haven’t heard, Balcones CrossFit is going through some bittersweet, yet super exciting changes. The current owner, Tanner Martin, is leaving and we have copied his letter to our members below. Juan Parra and I will be taking over the gym and we could not be more excited to work with all of you and continue the fantastic fitness training that Balcones has been known for. Meanwhile, stay tuned in the coming weeks for some exciting changes that are coming. Our goal is to bring the community of CrossFit, and of Balcones back together. Ultimately, our members are a family of their own and we as coaches first, owners second, want to accentuate that and make everyone feel that the gym is their second home. Here are a few things for starters:
- We will be adding a two day a week membership for $99
- We will be adding a reward program for our members that will include prizes for a certain number of workouts completed throughout the year
- We will be adding a community service program called BCF Cares
- We will be offering referral discounts or bonuses for our members
- We will begin offering a discount for Emergency Responders, Teachers and Veterans
So, get those New Year’s fitness goals ready and let’s have some fun while we work!
Darla and Juan
I know this will come as a shock to many of you, and I am horrible at goodbyes, but I will be leaving Austin as of this weekend.
As many of you may have noticed, I have been quite absent from the gym as of late. For that I do apologize. My personal life has been a bit of a roller coaster in the last 5 months and everything has sort of come to a head. Additionally, I have been given the opportunity to invest in a gym back in North Carolina, which has been a dream of mine for some time. Due to these personal issues, I am sad to say that I will be stepping away from Balcones Fitness at this time.
Do not worry, I will be leaving you in good hands. Juan and Darla will be taking over the reins. They have been essentially running the gym for the last few months, teaching all of the classes and doing the programming for you. They’ve also helped to set up and run events, and kept the day to day operations of the gym up to standard. Consider it an extended interview process, and they passed with flying colors.
I have never been one for long goodbyes so I’ll keep this short. This is a bittersweet ending for my time in Texas. I’ve grown this gym from the ground up and will be really sad to leave it behind. You as our members are the lifeblood of this gym. Keep coming in and working hard and Balcones CrossFit will continue to thrive and see many people reach their fitness goals.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives in the time that I have been here. I look forward to checking in on your progress in the coming months and years.”
