Wow! Today I had an amazing experience at the Diamond Games Crossfit competition. I competed in the women’s scaled division and out of the 11 competitors there finished last. I’m not sad about that but in fact, it was truly a great learning experience for me. Last minute WODS got changed up a bit but as crossfitters we have been taught to prepare for the unknown. Yes, it was frustrating but you just learn to adjust & prepare for the random physical challenges.
Moreover, it was just plain cold, wet, & rainy there. My fingers were frozen like popsicles! This 37 degrees weather was colder than when I ran the 3M half in Jan at 39 degrees. And Yes the pro men had to run & lift in the pouring rain. That was quite a site! After that, they moved the later wods to the walkways where one had to deal with the cold, breezy air flowing through. Of, course, that didn’t help my EIA.
No excuses here. But in all, I learned that I can go back to the gym and work on those personal goals I have for myself. It’s not about competing against others but the sense of accomplishment when you worked so hard in the gym that it translates to where “by golly I can really do this”!!! It’s amazing what great things comes out of you during competition!
