But it is possible to have too much of a good thing.
Caffeine is a stimulant, and increases the stress hormone cortisol. It’s great for focus and energy in the short term, but chronic consumption can keep cortisol elevated. If your cortisol is elevated throughout the day, it’s kind of like running sludge through your system, and throws off your natural cortisol cycle. You’ll also tend to store more fat around your midsection.
My recommendation: keep caffeine intake limited to the morning, or immediately pre workout. See if it works for you.
