I’ve wondered for awhile what I should call the awesome members of Balcones CrossFit. Are you students? Clients? Members? Nah, none of those seem to fit; you’re more than all of those terms. You are all athletes.
Webster’s defines an athlete as: a person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina. That’s exactly what we strive to become here at BCF. The things we do in our daily workouts, are not your average exercises. We build strength, stamina, and conditioning, the same as athletes that play traditional sports like soccer or baseball.
As athletes, you all develop skills that the average gym-goer doesn’t learn. Skills like the kipping pull up, snatches, and handstand push ups are all aspects of the sport of CrossFit that make us unique. Because of your training, you are stronger, faster, and more conditioned than most people. So I say, yes, you are athletes. You not only excel at the sport of fitness (CrossFit), you are better prepared for anything that life can throw at you!
